Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
An IT degree apprentice currently working with data analysis and AI, I gather and prepare data for analysis and build predictive models to forecast demand. Testing model accuracy, visualise insights, collaborate with teams, and report findings to influence decision-making and plan future projects, enhancing strategic planning and resource allocation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the program's diverse benefits, gaining valuable real-world experience and seamlessly integrating new learnings into the workplace environment. Through building amazing relationships with colleagues and mentors, I aim to uncover future opportunities, enhancing both personal and professional growth while contributing effectively to team and organizational success.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I enhanced my skills by learning advanced data analysis and predictive forecasting techniques. I also improved my technical vocabulary to communicate effectively with technical professionals and built upon my coding abilities, gaining expertise in leveraging APIs to streamline processes and improve efficiency in various projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is well-structured yet adaptable, accommodating individual career paths. This flexibility allows participants to concentrate on their preferred interests and skills, rather than adhering to a rigid path that might require transitioning to roles beyond their career aspirations, ensuring alignment with personal goals and professional growth objectives.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I benefit from a strong support network at work where apprentices assist and advise each other when needed. I have a buddy who is a year ahead and a mentor who has completed their apprenticeship, both providing guidance and insights to enhance my learning experience and professional development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Support from my training provider is readily accessible whenever needed. So far, assistance has primarily addressed technical issues with their systems, rather than learning or other support areas. This ensures smooth operation of the technical aspects and allows me to focus more on my educational and professional development goals.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Some aspects of the training from my provider are relevant; however, much of my work aligns with current industry trends, while my learning lags slightly behind the curve. This gap limits the direct applicability of my education to my daily tasks, necessitating additional adaptation to bridge the divide.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Social activities, organized by apprentice social committees, play a key role in creating a vibrant community. Networking events within offices provide opportunities to connect with colleagues we wouldn't ordinarily encounter. Additionally, my office hosts a pool club with weekly matches and a run club open for all to join, fostering camaraderie.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend AstraZeneca to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The people I work with are great—everyone is friendly and open to answering any questions I might have. The work I do directly impacts patients' lives, making it rewarding to know that my contributions make a real difference in improving healthcare outcomes and supporting patient well-being.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
Be yourself because people hire those they enjoy working with; skills can be taught, but character and personality are harder to instill. Embrace and seek criticism for self-improvement and accountability, as these are valuable skills that enhance personal growth and contribute to a collaborative and productive work environment.
