Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I assist in the management and tracking of the biggest sub-contractor package on site. I review RAMS, ensuring to check all information is up to date. Myself and 2 colleagues review our room layout sheets that have been questioned by the NHS to provide solution/clarity
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Each stage of my apprenticeship has been beneficial in different ways depending on my skill level at the time. Having a designated training provider with only other NG Bailey apprentices within the class was good to ease into my apprenticeship and now having support when going for my EPA and putting myself forward for our internal Safety Training Program.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have developed my people management skills along with communication and planning while managing a sub-contractor. I have learnt how to assess a task and create a risk assessment as well as provide guidelines/requirements to reduce risk. Also improving my attention to detail when reviewing drawings and room layouts.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Really well structured. You have the early apprenticeship with a structured college program mixed into early site based work. A whole apprenticeship rotation calendar to ensure each apprentice gets sufficient training. Development days are incorporated into your learning as well, this provides skill specific learning days.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive plenty of support. Having a line manager who works within the same office as me gives day to day support. I also have an apprenticeship development partner to ensure I receive the correct training. As well as this I have created relationships with multiple different managers, directors and HR colleagues to ensure support whenever needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
When I was going through college I felt personally that I could reach out to my lecturers whenever I needed which gave me piece of mind during the more stressful parts of college. On top of that I had my own contact when going through my KSB's, regular phone calls and communications to ensure I submitted my best work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like the training has helped improve my overall knowledge of what is going on during each stage of construction as well as give me insight into different aspects that I may have missed due to starting mid way through this current project.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have had the opportunity to be involved in a number of different extra-curricular activities such as Christmas nights out/dinner out with colleagues, development days, our internal apprenticeship induction and apprenticeship connects events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NG Bailey to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel the organisation of the apprenticeship along with the training and colleagues that I work with have made the first 2/3 years within my apprenticeship easy to settle into, enjoyable and full of new challenges and experiences. Having had the privilege to enjoy my work and get paid while learning is something I'd recommend to anyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NG Bailey?
Be confident and ensure you go in with a hard working mindset. Engage with colleagues and ensure you grow your network as there isn't a limit within this company and internal promotions are prioritised within NG Bailey.
