Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work on client projects as part of project teams. I have moved around different projects getting exposed to different areas of software engineering. I work as a normal software engineer in the company, completing whatever tasks are asked of me. My days consist of both software development and meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have greatly enjoyed it, I have learnt many skills, met new people and have achieved more during the apprenticeship than I thought I would have in the time period.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes. I have learnt and developed many skills, not just in software engineering. I have mostly learnt software engineering skills due to this being the core part of my job. But have also learnt many soft skills, presentation skills, team working skills and increased business knowledge.
Uni work has helped round off my learning further by exposing me to additional areas of IT.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship is well structured from both the company and uni side. The uni course exposes you to various bits of IT, building upon what you learn in previous years, and then specialising in the final 2 years. The work side allows me to delve deeper into software engineering.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots. Any time I have asked for support I have received it quickly and to the extent I have asked for. I speak to my line manager almost weekly, and to my project team daily. I receive project level support all the time, whether it is asking questions or having my code reviewed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The university is very supportive. There are many resources available to us for help. The lecturers are all helpful and ae happy to take time to do 1-2-1 sessions as needed to support you. They are also easily contactable via email.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The degree portion has assisted my work role well, exposing me to areas of IT and software engineering I wouldn't have had exposure to during my client project work.
I feel some of the areas covered could be explored to a greater depth however.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The company offers many extra activities. I try to go to as many as possible, but there are even more that I don't attend. There are different activities to cater for many interests. All of the examples provided in this question are offered frequently.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CACI to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great atmosphere. Very accommodating of the apprenticeship with lots of support. Get treated like any other junior software engineer, working on the same projects, this gives lots of experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CACI?
Asking questions is key, they are the best way to learn in my opinion in areas you don't understand or want to increase your knowledge in.
In terms of applying, be yourself, share your experiences (inside and outside of school/work).
