Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working as part of the design team to create building service designs for a range of commercial projects. My role involves using lots of different software, including, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Excel and attending meetings with the client and architect to align the designs to meet the brief.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes. Since starting my apprenticeship, I have learnt lots of new skills these include communication and social skills, software skills (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Excel) and professional skills, all which will aid me throughout my career.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured between work and college and there is a rotation plan in place to give apprentices time to experience other departments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from NG Bailey. Particularly from my line manager and apprentice development partner. In NG Bailey we have an apprentice voice forum to support us in our apprenticeship as well as regular apprentice connect talks where we can all get together and discuss our journey.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Lots of support is there if you need it. NG Bailey are keen to support their apprentices towards their qualifications. Coming up to the End Point Assessment they arranged EPA meetings to support us when completing out project brief.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification gives a good overview of the industry as well as lots of skills and knowledge that can be applied to my day-to-day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Theres lots to get involved with. There is an apprenticeship voice forum and apprenticeship ambassador roles. NG Bailey also have a development day each year to strengthen our soft skills and two volunteer days a year to support an organisation. There are also opportunities to help out as an apprentice mentor.
