Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as an apprentice involves mainly practical, hands on tasks. Depending on the difficulty of the job, my mentor will shadow me however, if I am deemed competent with the task, he will check once I am finished. I then fill out the paperwork making sure everything is perfect before moving on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I definitely enjoy this program as it is something I am passionate towards and there is help wherever it is needed. Any minor issue that I have had gets sorted straight away and overall it is a nice work environment to be a part of.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have improved my hand skills as well as my knowledge towards aircrafts whilst on my apprenticeship. I have also gained experience and understand how to read manuals, including how to interpret the illustrations. I have also developed a basic understanding of using different tools for certain tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is well structured however, there have been some issues regarding the theory side of things. Due to external issues the apprenticeship manager has had to rearrange the pathway a couple of times however things are back on track and are going well
How much support do you receive from your employer?

help is given whenever needed at bombardier, no matter the issue. Whether it is related to work or home problems, staff are easy to talk to and are trained for dealing with things such as mental health problems. on the shop floor, you can ask anyone around you for support and they will help you in any way.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are many opportunity's for extra curricular activities. there is currently a small football team with members of staff, there are various social activities such as summer socials, family day and Christmas dos. professional networking events are also very common
