Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
For the first 10 months we are at college at ICAT. We do block learning, so we learn the coursework for a certain subject then have a test and as long as we pass then we are done with that module. Then we start on the job training in July.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It has been amazing so far. The coursework is very interesting, the lectures are very good at teaching and lovely people, my bosses are always very approachable and try their hardest to solve any problems that they are given, and finally I have met many new people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
A lot of what I have learnt so far is new to me so I would say I have developed a lot of skills. Most of the skills we have learnt in the hangar have also been new to me so that has been very insightful to see and practice.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The block learning that we do in class is a very efficient method of learning which I think creates a good structure to our college experience. They have clearly told us the structure of what we are doing and where we will be throughout the apprenticeship (OJT and college, etc).
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
At least once a week, our apprentice manager will make the trip to college and spend the day working from college so if we have any questions or problems that are best dealt with in person then we can talk to him about them then. We can also contact our manager through emails or by message.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We very rarely have contact with them but I do believe that they have done all they can and we receive a lot of support from our college lectures and managers so I don't think it has any impact on our apprenticeship and our performance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Almost all that I have learnt during the apprenticeship has been new to me so I would definitely not be able to perform a safe and correct job during on the job training and later in my career without it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are two that I can think off. The first of which is a buddy scheme where you can opt in and get a buddy where you have meetings with where you get to know each other to help with getting to know more people in your industry. The second of which is the apprentice newsletter which is run by apprentices' and gives you information that could possibly be important to you.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Boeing UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Everyone that I have met has been incredibly kind and welcoming and I personally really enjoy my job so have nothing but positive words to say about it. I can't see a problem with the company so far.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing UK?
Always try and be confident and meet new people to help with networking. Everyone I have met so far has been very kind and from what I've learnt and heard, the more people you know the better in this industry.
