Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as an aircraft maintenance technician apprentice involves: a lot of learning theory in a classroom for different modules, as well as, partaking in different practical tasks in a sheltered environment. I start my day at 8:30 and get all my admin done before 9, and I finish at 4:30.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship as it combines theory and hands on learning. I feel like the practical based learning really improves my theory knowledge as its putting my theory knowledge into real life situations.
My lecturers are really good and very knowledgeable. Whenever, I don't understand a topic, they do there best to make it as clear and understandable as possible.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a large range of new theory knowledge which will help me with my future in the apprenticeship and my overall career. As I have been completing practical tasks in a sheltered environment, is has improved my overall hand skills and gave me an increased amount of confidence when completing given tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The day to day running's of my apprenticeship is very organized. I have a specific routine I have to follow to complete all my tasks and admin I need to do for the day, e.g. checking emails before 9am. To make sure I complete all my modules with the correct amount of time, a yearly timetable was produced. This also helps me feel organized as I know what I will be doing the next day.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
If I ever need any support, I have a number of people I can clearly reach out too. Whenever I need help or have any questions, i hear responses back from my employer promptly. My employer wants the best for me, therefore if there is anything I need to know to help me, they will let me know.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
During my apprenticeship so far I haven't really spoke to my training provider as there isn't really a need. Whenever I need help with something I'd either go to one of my lecturers or my employer. Overall there is rarely any communication between myself and the training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification has and will give me vital knowledge that I can use on 'on the job training' to improve my skills within my specific day- to - day tasks. I also feel that my qualification will make me safer when working on site as I am now aware of the different safety hazards that I need to be careful of because of learning about them during classroom learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are extra curricular activities that come up that I could get involved in like: representing my employer at certain STEM events like in primary schools and also at shows. There isn't any sports teams that i can join. A couple trips and professional networking events have came up which have aloud me to network with other employees and other people in industry.
