Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently at college, spend majority of time conducting in class learning preparing for exams. Also spend some time in the college hangar, in a sheltered environment, learning the necessary skills for working in an aircraft maintenance industry.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship so far from both a professional and a social perspective, and I am sure that I will enjoy my on job training experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

There are numerous skills I have learnt over the last 7 months that will allow me to transition to on job training smoothly and give me confidence when entering the aircraft maintenance industry. These skills go beyond the necessary hand skills but also cover personal and mental skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that the delivery of my programme so far has been good, the college and Boeing work close together to ensure that we are equipped with the right knowledge and skills, and this has been fine tuned from previous apprenticeship cohorts, and will likely continue to improve.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive an adequate amount of support from our employer, due to the nature of the work we have done so far, I tend to be in more contact with individuals from the college, however when I need something from Boeing, I often get the help I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have not interacted with my training provider a great deal, but have been shown how to use the system we upload our work on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification I am doing has undoubtedly equipped with the skills to perform well at my job. It gives me the encouragement and confidence necessary to transition on to on job training effectively.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is opportunities to get involved with things separate to my role that are provided by my employer.

Be yourself, and try and show that you have an aptitude for learning and an eagerness to learn as well.
