Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is to provide a plan for reinforcement, alterations and additions to the network for both customers and NGED itself.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have found my program extremely enjoyable and enriching so far. I have met lots of amazing new people, experienced things I otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to and I have learnt new things along the way.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Aside from my daily on the job learning, I have been able to partake in a variety of unique training program's and enroll in a new and engaging college course, all of which have taught me knowledge, professionalism, confidence, ability and employability.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I believe that my program could've been organized more appropriately and looked at as a whole to ensure we are gaining the most at all times during this apprenticeship however the structure of the courses independently has been engaging and informative.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
In my office I have access to support at any and all times. The set up of my support system also means I have allocated people to reach out to for different issues who can focus solely on single aspects of things I may struggle with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support from the training school, aside from occasional disorganization, is excellent with reviews in place such as learner voice groups, progress reviews, learner surveys and the option of drop in session.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My on-site and technical training has been detrimental to my knowledge, skills, behaviors, experience and understanding of the wider jobs untaken within the National Grid which helps me understand where my role fits in and understand my importance to the team, giving me purpose and passion for the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a plethora of extra curriculum groups, clubs and activities to get involved in, for example, I have joined 3 ERG groups called WiNG, WiNTR and NewNet in hopes to gain help, wisdom and support from other new starters and other women in STEM.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend National Grid to a friend?
Yes
Why?
So far I have had a fulfilling and enriching experience with varied activities giving me a broad understanding of not only NGED as a business but the wider electrical and utilities industry as a whole.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
Don't be shy and give it your all. Everyone is very friendly and passionate so learn from those with experience and take their advise.
