Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently in the 9 month college phase at the start of the apprenticeship. This involves a combination of hands on work and university learning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme. I am learning lots, and the environment is fun to be in. The Airbus cohorts are large, so it is easy to make friends with other apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
There is opportunity to learn and develop knowledge (in the university modules) and skills (in the hands on lessons)

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There is clear structure to the programme. Airbus have set up a training plan for development, and there are meetings with UWE, Weston College, Airbus and apprentices to share feedback.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There are regular reviews and 1-1s with managers. There are groups to contact older apprentices if you have questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
You have regular reviews with your apprentice advisor at Weston and these are useful to receive and give feedback. The hands on lessons are taught by excellent lecturers. You can always ask questions to develop your learning. The college's admin can be quite slow and unorganised
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
As I am in the college phase, I don't think I can answer this question well.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in. There is Gen A, which organises company-wide social activities, as well as lectures from leaders around the business. There are lots of sports teams to join. All apprentices go on an adventure teambuilding trip as well.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Apprentices at Airbus get to organise placements, so they can do what they are interested in. This is less common at other similar companies, which tend to have a much more rigid structure.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
Take your time with each stage of the application.
