Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Craft apprentice electrical and mechanical fitter. I work on all the different stages of a wing from drilling to fitting.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, I have always wanted to be in the engineering sector. I originally wanted to be in the RAF but wasn't able to join because of medical reasons, so I thought why not join Airbus and I managed to pass the onboarding exams and interviews and I am now an Airbus employee.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt what all the different sections of the company do and how they all contribute to the build. From office workers with CAD to shop floor and stores with getting the correct tools to the right areas.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is to a certain extent, organised. The communication between college and work managers could be better but other than that it is fine.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support from my employer is great. They want me to do the best and pass my exams/ apprenticeship because they have invested so much money in me and my fellow apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
the support from my training provider is not that great, the revision resources they give us for a test are not related to the actual test so we end having to teach ourselves the subject. Some of the teachers as well, are not that great, they just read off the powerpoint.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At work there are many extra curricula activities I can get involved with. We give many tours to schools and universities. We sometimes go into schools and show them a quick PowerPoint of what we are and what we do. This tends to happen 4 times a month and shows how close we are to the local community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a great place to work, there are many advantages I could list such as its a great work force, you can travel the world, its Airbus a well known company - everyone knows Airbus and who they are.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
If someone was applying I would say no matter what your results are they look at the person, they look at who you are and how you act in a team environment and how you work in a engineering mindset.
