Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a daily basis I will check my emails and then check a variety of different portals. After I have done this I will formulate a work plan for the day. Tasks often include updating a variety of different trackers, interacting with tenants over various matters and liaising with clients over what they want from certain properties. In the background I will also be working on a project that will benefit the client/team I work in.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do enjoy my program. I find it interesting and it is nice to see how my learning in my degree transfers to my work on a daily basis.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a variety of different new skills, especially on the systems that i am required to operate on , on a regular basis. This includes compass, workflow, datastation etc. I have also improved my my existing skills on the full range of Microsoft appliances.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program is well structured overall. However, I would say that it feels like there is more structure and more organisation if you are in the London office, as opposed to other regional ones, this is something which I think can be improved.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I think the support I have received so far has been good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I think UCEM provides a very good amount of support whilst I work towards my qualification. I have regular catch ups with my degree officer and I can feedback any queries I have to her, and she will either answer them herself or put me in touch with someone who can.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Ultimately I need an MSc in real estate in order to become chartered as I studied a non cognate degree at university. As such, I am always learning something new about the property industry in my course, which I think is incredibly helpful. Whilst it may not always be relevant directly to my role, as I am a fixed graduate, it provides a good level of understanding of what you need to operate at a good level in most roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes there are chances to get involved with extra curricular activities at work. This year I have played several football matches, a netball match and also had the chance to participate in Savills hockey team. There have been some professional networking events which I have attended. Whilst there are opportunities for extracurricular activities like the above, I would say this is heavily office dependent or very centrally focussed and is another area in which the company could improve.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a very good company that is highly reputable in the sector. I believe the level of training and help in order to pass the APC is great. In addition the people you meet are everyday are always very friendly and welcoming, as well as highly professional.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
I would say the biggest tip is to engage early with the recruiting pipeline, whether that is attending insight days, work experience, summer schemes etc. The earlier you engage and show a real interest in wanting to work at this company the more likely it will be to happen.
If you have got a role here the best advice I would give is simply to throw yourself in and get involved with as many projects and teams etc.
