Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a minerals surveyor I provide a range of property services (valuation, management, consultancy) solely focused on minerals and waste properties and their associated rights. Examples of this include:
Negotiating a new lease for development of a sand and gravel quarry
Completing rent reviews for managed quarries
Valuing a recycling operation
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed the experience and opportunities I was provided throughout my programme. However, the degree study was at times unrelated to my day to day role so at times this felt somewhat tedious.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout the course of my apprenticeship I developed a wide range of skills.
The ability to vary communication styles depending on medium and audience
Significant improvement in writing style and confidence in this
Public speaking
Negotiation skills
Knowledge and understanding of sector and wider property markets

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure of the programme at Savills is very good with excellent integration into the APC process
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Throughout the early years of my apprenticeship the central support was lacking however, this has now improved and there is excellent support from the training and APC teams.
I also received excellent support from my immediate team and the wider office.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is support available however, at times there were issues on the degree programme that course leaders were unresponsive too
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Helps provide wider context and valuation modules are useful. The remainder was not really relevant however, this is due to having a very niche role in the property sector
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, particularly in large cities
