Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a Data Analyst. I spend time coding in Python and SQL, making dashboard and creating analyses to help run programs for Amazon's Fleet.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
At times uni can be a little boring, but I really enjoy my job overall.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt some more Python and I have had a chance to learn Amazon Quicksight, Lambda and Redshift, as well as other AWS tools.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. We have uni for 8 weeks each term, where typically one half day each week is spent in a workshop and then we can use the rest of the half day to focus on studies or professional development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager, team and the apprenticeship team have provided me with lots of support and guidance. I feel safe at work and know where to go to get help. I also have an apprentice buddy who is able to help me when needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Yes I get support, but I would prefer more frequent catch ups with my DLC. That being said, I get great support from the accommodations team.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It is relevant to what I do in my day-to-day role, so I am able to understand why we do certain tasks in specific ways.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes. We have affinity groups which put on many events, and people in the office also organise smaller socials. I am very involved.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Amazon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I get lots of support and feel valued in my role. I am trusted with lots of different tasks and my team appreciates that I am still learning. Also, the salary is not too shabby!-
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
Learn all about the leadership principles and make sure you can align well with them. Also, take time to really think about your answers and why you want to work for Amazon. In particular, apprentices should focus on the "Build Trust", "Learn & Be Curious" and "Ownership" leadership principles.
