Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day as a PR and Communications Apprentice starts with checking emails, catching up on internal updates, and monitoring news for any relevant coverage. I help draft internal newsletters, update communication materials. Throughout the day, I ensure messaging is aligned, support internal campaigns, and assist in coordinating events or announcements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Every day brings something new, whether it’s drafting content, collaborating with different teams, or learning how to engage audiences effectively. I love the mix of creativity and strategy, and it’s exciting to see the real impact of the work I contribute to. I feel like I’m growing, gaining confidence, and building a strong foundation for a career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

From day one, I’ve been developing my writing by drafting newsletters, and social media content. I’m learning how to engage audiences, tailor messaging, and maintain a consistent brand voice. Through team meetings, I’m improving my ability to pitch ideas, communicate. Along with learning to using Adobe Software.

There’s a framework in place, with set goals, regular check ins, and dedicated time for skill development. I have a mix of structured training sessions, on-the-job learning, and opportunities to work, which keeps things engaging. The support from my mentors and team ensures I’m always learning and progressing, while feedback sessions help track my growth.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great amount of support from my team. They are always available to answer questions, provide feedback, and guide me through tasks, which helps me feel confident in my work. Regular check-ins with my manager ensure I’m on track with my learning goals, and I have access to training sessions and resources to build my skills. The encouragement and mentorship I receive make a huge difference in my development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a good amount of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. They offer structured learning sessions, helpful resources, and regular check-ins to make sure I’m progressing. My tutor is always available to answer questions, provide feedback on assignments, and guide me through any challenges.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification through my training provider is really helpful in improving my performance in my role. The coursework gives me a strong foundation in PR and communications, helping me understand the strategies behind the tasks I work on daily. Learning about media relations, content creation, and analytics has made me more confident in my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

In my first few weeks, I had the opportunity to join an Operations Review, which was a great way to get insight into how the company functions at a strategic level. It gave me a clearer understanding of how different departments collaborate and how decisions are made to improve efficiency and communication.

My experience so far has been really positive the company offers a supportive and well-structured apprenticeship where I’m gaining valuable hands-on experience. There’s a great balance between learning and real responsibility, and the team is always willing to help me grow. The company also has a strong culture, with plenty of opportunities for networking, professional development, and getting involved in different projects. It’s a great place to build skills, gain industry knowledge, and be part of an innovative and forward-thinking organisation.
