Getting involved with routine and unplanned maintenance with a team of engineers, working on private aircraft.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the program. I have been working for Bombardier for almost 3 years now and it is safe to say that I currently do not see myself working anywhere else.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge as well as gaining competency on tools. Working in teams constantly also means that my social skills have also improved.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure to the program is very well thought out. We have dedicated days every week to attend college to keep up with our theory side, and also get dedicated time to complete any additional work. All apprentices know what they are doing before they come into work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as I need from my employer, and they are not the type to overwhelm you when you do not need it. They are very open to discussing anything you might need and more than happy to accommodate to anything you may need. Within reason.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have received as much support as I have needed throughout my time as an apprentice. This includes retakes for exams, extra time studying to make sure I pass those exams, and also support in giving me additional time to work towards my qualification and competency assessments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification has helped me to perform better by not only giving me the fundamentals of maintenance, but also the ability to confidently use tools on the job. They express the importance of knowing what you are working on and how to work on it before you touch any tools.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty you can do with your team and other colleagues outside of work. Some simply go out for fun, whereas we also have organised activities such as golf, football and even fantasy teams. Professional networking events are available to whoever would like to attend them as well. I can confirm this as I have been on quite a few myself.

Yes
Why?
The career path (development) as well as everything you learn is second to none for a hands on apprenticeship. To also earn while you learn is a huge bonus.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bombardier Aviation?
Try to gain some sort of hands on experience in aviation or engineering in general. Whether this is work experience or doing trial days at airports. Anything like this shows that not only are you interested in the industry, but also you have some sort of idea of how a business within aviation works.
