Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I lead the UK&I digital trading and supplier marketing team which focuses on taking our product categories to market in the UK & Ireland markets via multi-channel marketing activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It was a good programme - with the only challenge balancing the demands of work, the course and your home life - but I'd do it again.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Both learnt new skills in the area of people leadership and development skills in decision making, strategic thinking and project management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Really well structured - but I know I was lucky as it was pre-pandemic when face-to-face 'classroom' sessions were more likely and that help me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A okay level of support. Let's for honest we are a lean business and we don't have the level of staff to allow people the time to work on personal development during the working day without it having an operational impact. I was aware of that before I started - but I think RS could be more open with employees on the personal investment (in time) they will need to make.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Pretty good. I passed with merit and only missed a distinction by a couple of points - but this wasn't due to WhiteHat.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helped, it allowed me to demonstrate my commitment to become a people leader - which help ensure I got a promotion.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes and No. I say this because it gets less and less each year as the diversity of employees changes (less local people) and hybrid / virtual working has changed the office workplace in ways that are good & bad.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RS Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because despite the organisations faults they are a good local employer.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RS Group?
Advice: We are moving back towards a multi-days in the office culture so don't think hybrid means one day a week if you live more than 20miles or so from the office the role is based in.
