Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to support the People & Organisational Development (POD) Section in the delivery of everyday tasks within the department.
Some of my responsibilities, but not limited to are:
• Supervising the People Administrator
• Supporting People Business Partners
• Recruitment and Selection
• Promotion Processes
• Pre-Employment Checks
• Maintaining FireWatch System
• Payroll
• Occupational Health Services
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy most of the programme, I have enjoyed more around the law side of the qualification over some of the other learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed massively on my communication skills since joining the service. I have learnt how to communicate differently and better with different people in the service on different levels.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Whilst there has been structure to the programme with relation to the assignments, there has been no structure to the end regarding EPA. This is more a reflection on the college than CDDFRS
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. If I'm having any issues I can speak with my employer around these and they are there to support me with anything I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Whilst the college have provided support and contacts throughout, it has been difficult with some aspects due to ack of communication and changes of the course throughout which has been frustrating.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think the qualification is good for my role as I already work within the HR team so the qualification is allowing me to develop my own knowledge and will hopefully help me progress in the team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The service offer various extra activities from various different sports and networking events that anyone can be involved in.

I think CDDFRS is a good place to work. The service offer a lot of development and there's always opportunity to learn.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue?
When applying for the service, I think it's important to do research on what the service is all about to ensure a strong application.
