Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves claims handling with a few various different cargo accounts which operate both in the uk and globally. This consists of conversations with both clients and underwriters and is to ensure the claims process goes smoothly thus meeting client needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme as it has so many different opportunities an experiences which are offered. In addition to this the daily role is also entertaining and I thoroughly enjoy the team and company i am working in. It is also really nice having such a close cohort which offer an excellent support network with my role and exams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt everything i know about insurance in this role as it is all new to me . In addition to this in my exams i can now confidently say i have a firm understanding of the London market and how this operates.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I believe the programme is structured extremely well and i am happy with what i have to do for this and if i were to change anything this would only be with the first exam. This is because there is less workload at the start meaning that i would reduce the time suggested for this to around 3 months as opposed to the regular 4. I believe this could take some stress off of the second exam too.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Personally for me this is the most impactful part of the apprenticeship and is the reason why i enjoy this apprenticeship so much. This is because of the amount of support which is available at WTW being endless. Firstly with such a supportive team which encourage success and drive me to do better. In addition to having a manager which tries to boost my career not only in the team but pushing for me to get new opportunities too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I believe that the support from my training provider is significant in conjunction with my company as it gives enough time in between sessions to reflect and improve. The only change i could think of for this support would be to allow for help to be asked for more easily. This however is not a big issue as the company is there to answer all immediate questions. This is only an issue if a question is apprenticeship specific.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Personally for me i believe it is great in my role as i deal with a lot of the topics involved with the exams in my day to day role however this is only to an extent as the books and exams cover such a vast number of topics that it is impossible to have a role which i fully supported by the exams i am offered. This is not necessarily a bad thing though because i would preferer my role to be at least a bit disconnected from the exams which i am taking.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are an abundance of activities firstly through the company but also just in this industry in general. This is excellent as it builds your career with the networking whilst also being more entertainment and relaxed in terms of the job side of things.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Due to its extremely impactful culture focused around bringing the company together and eliminating and differences between people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
I would say be the best version of you in any interview as they are looking for the person . This is because they don't expect a new joiner to know all about insurance . They are looking for someone who is willing to learn and take in what the industry has to offer.
