Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role I spend 4 days a week learning on the job as an apprentice service transition manager, and one day a week doing the government apprentice side of my learning to become a project manager. I ensure we deliver, maintain and protect service.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme very much, I have been incredibly well supported and provided a lot of real world opportunities on real projects to learn and develop my skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt many skills surrounding project management, transition management. Also getting a qualification in ITIL V4 foundation and an APM PMQ project management exam qualification.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very well structured, starting from the evaluation day, on to induction for my BAU role, being assigned a buddy who was on the same scheme as me, having fellow apprentices starting at the same time, having a future careers committee with scheme managers, we are supported well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive all the support I require. My line manager is great, and have not come across an issue I couldn't get support for and have never felt isolated or unsupported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider has supported us with teaching session covering project management modules, preparing us for the PMQ exam and supporting us prepare our portfolio for End Point Assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The project manager qualification is mostly relevant to my BAU work and helps me learn skills that are transferable and can be put to good use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are networking events, social events, team meals to celebrate various holidays, team gatherings etc. Also we get five paid volunteering days which are often done in groups socially.
