Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I assist the digital team with daily tasks, including supporting and executing projects, communicating with external agencies and colleagues via online calls, emails, and in person meetings, managing budgets and raising POs, and submitting tickets for webmaster updates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme at Unilever, and have learnt a lot of both practical skills and theory knowledge since I started. My team are very supportive and I appreciate the flexibility of hybrid working throughout the week. Having a designated study day each week also gives me the time I need for tutor lessons and to complete assignments.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting my apprenticeship at Unilever, I have developed a range of skills. On the practical side, I have learned how to use budgeting software, extract marketing data, raise tickets and make changes through webmaster, and create templates in both Excel and PowerPoint. Additionally, I have strengthened my soft skills, including communication, task management, and building confidence.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At the beginning of my training programme I had a change of tutor on 3 occasions, without prior notice, which made me feel unsettled about the consistency of my training plan especially as I had only just started. However, after raising this concern the issue is now resolved and I now have a consistent tutor who is very supportive.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager is very supportive, teaching me how to use new software and guiding me in developing skills that have helped me manage projects/tasks and improve communication, as well as weekly one to one sessions. Overall, I have had a very positive experience so far within my team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my tutor, I have weekly lesson calls as well as monthly progress reviews. My tutor is also very open to adapting my training plan to support me with topics that I would like to learn in more detail, as well as setting me assignments and tasks to help build my portfolio for end point assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Whilst I believe my learning has helped me to build my marketing knowledge, I believe that the support and experience I have gained in the workplace has been the most valuable in developing the skills that help me perform better in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes - there is opportunity to get involved in onboarding teams, team socials, work and charity events.

Why?
I would recommend Unilever as a great place to start your career. There is lots of opportunity for professional growth and there is so much you can learn. The work environment is supportive and everyone is really friendly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Be yourself in interviews and throughout the assessment centres. I would recommend researching the company and showing what you understand and what you like about the programme you are applying for.
