Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Managing a team of engineers to look after the manufacturing plant for coffee production. Scheduling and reporting on planned and reactive maintenance. Continuous improvement and root cause analysis. Budget management and long range plan for Opex and Capex spend. Project SME and leading.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed meeting others from within the business, networking with people I might not have met in my current role. I have embraced the challenge of balancing my workload to allow me to better myself. I have enjoyed learning about new things, especially learning about myself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt new skills on people management, motivation and effective leadership. I have learnt about different types of audiences and how to approach presentations or meetings. I have further developed skills in project management and root cause analysis. I have learnt about new tools for all

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well organised and structured. The plan is laid out and very clear of what content we will learn when. It is reveiwed regularly to see where we are sitting within the plan

I get very good support from my trainer. She is one of the reasons I have enjoyed the journey so much. She is approachable and always helpful, guiding me in the right direction and providing tools when I required it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has given me the knowledge, experience and tools to manage teams. I am more confident and more outgoing - it has been noticed by others. I found a new love for project management, between the apprenticeship and a great mentor at work I found my organisational skills benefited this area
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Why?
Costa recognizes when you are high potential and will provide any tools or training required to give you the skills required for improvement. I was approached by my line manager to do a degree and I took that away and researched it and decided on the Level 5 apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Costa Coffee?
Always be your authentic self. Have a good positive attitude and be willing. Ensure you are heard and know what you want
