Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an apprentice electrician, my day to day is currently spent putting in tray. However essentially I am given a task to do and get on with it till I’m finished
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
my college programme is good if a little slow. My work environment i feel like I could be given more variation in my work than I am. I feel like I’ve been stuck doing tray for maybe a tad too long

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have started from knowing nothing to knowing loads. I know how to use power tools now, I know how to create sets in tray and create 90° bends and create reducers. I’ve learnt a lot

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
very well organised. It’s clear the hierarchy of people I can go to if I need something. I am never lost inside the company or forgotten about.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
a fair amount of support, the teacher could definitely be improved. He doesn’t answer questions very well
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I’m more experienced in tasks as I get practice at college so I can complete tasks faster and with better quality
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
we have apprentice breakfast meetings every quarter, and always have a christmas party

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend ESG Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
they pay well, they care a lot about you as an apprentice, they make it feel a bit like a family, they get you deals for tools and actually make an effort to help you out
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ESG Limited?
just be genuine, be determined and show how you will persevere. It’s not about how good you are, it’s about how hard you’re willing to try to get that good
