Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an apprentice electrician currently assisting a Gold card electrician install containment on site in St Paul's. On a day to day, I flex lighting fittings, second fix sockets and spurs and I pull in cables as stated by design drawings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'm having a very good time on my site, the people I work with are very helpful and understanding of my requirements needed for my portfolio. The guy I work with on a day to day and the Supervisor are excellent.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I've learnt many skills, including how to appropriately use a drill, the best way to bend and cut conduit, the appropriate length of cables in socket outlets and how to fix tray and basket on the ceiling by the use of anchors

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The organisation could be better, with regards to getting apprentices their ECS cards, otherwise I am happy with the organisation and structure of my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A great deal of support if said support is required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Loads of things are put in place for us to access, so we can undertake independent learning in our own time. We get to access the course we use in college and several helpful links to other online courses have been emailed to us as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Knowing the theory and applying it to on site tasks really helps with the basic understanding of why certain things are done in a specific way. Also, being on site clarifies a lot of the theory.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I believe there are but I am not aware of them. The only thing I've been involved in is when the site was given lunch and raffle tickets by MACE as a thank you for the hard work they've undertaken.
