Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We attended workshops and talks which provided insight into the work carried out at Allen & Overy. It was an extremely helpful and insightful experience which developed my understanding of the firm, as well as practicing commercial law.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The information was communicated in a clear and comprehensible way which meant that I was able to easily understand all that was relayed. A broad range of the different work carried out at Allen & Overy was displayed including information about departments, networks and probono work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture seemed inclusive and friendly. It was clearly conveyed that the lawyers at Allen & Overy work together as a cohesive team. The general atmosphere seemed to be collegiate, rather than competitive.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed my insight into Allen & Overy as it allowed me to see exactly what the firm does, both professionally and with the wider community. I was also able to see what life as a lawyer working for Allen & Overy is like. This invaluable experience provided me with a true insight into the day-to-day life of a lawyer and the dynamic nature of the profession.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to A&O Shearman
I would advise reading the Financial Times and staying up to date with the news. I would advise talking through the steps of how you would resolve an issue, even if you don't know the solution. I would advise others to be confident in the interview.
