Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Valuation of non-domestic properties, property surveying, dealing with ratepayers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Loving it - it's very hard work but such an amazing opportunity. I'm retraining as a chartered surveyor, earning a degree while learning loads on the job, earning a salary and all the training/degree is being funded. I've got so much support around me to help me on the way.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So many!!!! Research, loads on building technology, data management, client care, detailed valuation methods, the list goes on!!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Tonnes!!! the in-house training is amazing, interesting, ongoing. I have so many mentors and colleagues all over the place to help me when I need it, as well as the other learners on my cohort - we help and support each other.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Tutors tend to give freely of their time when extra support is needed. I have an AOO, study mentor making sure I'm doing everything I need to do and also have a project tutor for my final project/dissertation piece.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well. The more I learn in my studies it really helps make the work I do make sense. Gives me a great background, bedrock and sometimes more advanced knowledge of surveying.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Sure there are but while I'm studying and working full time I don't really have the time for extra curricular activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Valuation Office Agency to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Flexitime is amazing. There is so much wisdom, knowledge and support to help me progress. Many of the staff have been here for decades - 30+ years and that's a strong indicator as somewhere being a good place to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Valuation Office Agency?
If you join on a learning course, you have struck gold. You will get out of it what you put in. It's hard work on a development course, but it will be well worth it to get that qualification.
