Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
- Policy and strategy
- Networking and national learning/funding updates
- Levy management
- Stakeholder engagement
- Procurement
- Learning and Skills improvements
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme learning itself is good. I don't think the course is at its best yet but this may be due to being on the first cohort of a revised programme. The CIPD accreditation is fully worth it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned to apply and adapt new HR approaches. The way the learning finds a way of seeping into your everyday job is impressive!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
This could be improved. The timings from the provider for learning modules v assignments is disjointed and not spaced equally. They spent too much time at the start trying not to overwhelm learners but this just means overwhelming us with more work at the end.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My Line Manager supports me in every way possible and there's always opportunity to expose myself to new learning and tasks to support my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is a good level of support but only for very specific issues. They were sometimes behind on their own SLAs for marking assignments which meant questions surrounding feedback aren't always answered on time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This has definitely been a useful qualification to undertake. I have really developed my knowledge and have found areas that interest me that I wouldn't have expected. This qualification will be vital in my own career progression.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of professional networking. there are book clubs, sports socials and run clubs for people to get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Valuation Office Agency to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A really supportive and relaxed place to work. They have been really supportive of my apprenticeship. This is the best CS dept. I have worked for in terms of work-life balance!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Valuation Office Agency?
Show a genuine interest in the role or profession you're applying for. Skills can always be learned and developed but passion is such a useful asset to have!
