Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves carrying out procurement to bring subcontractors on to site and ensure a project is completed within budget. Daily tasks include communication via emails and phone, measurements both on site and via software, appraising applications and invoices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I strongly believe who you work with is a vital factor when deciding how much you enjoy your job. At Kier, I believe the Liverpool office has a good team which make's the job easier.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, all of the above as i knew nothing about the industry or the role before coming into the apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
This varies, as my experience on site whilst working full time is great and allowed me to get my teeth into the job role from the get-go. However, when attending Uni during my 4 block weeks per year, this can be slightly tedious at times with how the blocks are structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is always there from my employer, whether that be in the form of colleagues, courses or anything similar there is always an option to receive support if you are struggling.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
SHU is pretty good at providing support as the lecturers and mentors always get back to you and help if they can.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Most of the assignments are relevant to my role and therefore go hand in hand and help me perform better in my role. However, some are not relevant and are simply there as a must to gain the qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a social committee who arranges social activities for people to attend.
