Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I carry out the design of Highways renewal schemes. This can involve anything from surfacing renewals, road markings, traffic signs or safety barrier.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed my programme. Kier made it very comfortable for me to manage my workload alongside my coursework and assessments from the university. They were always really supportive and offered any kinds of help whenever I needed it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Definitely. A lot more communication skills as well as using different types of software to carry out the design work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well. The course took place face-to-face at the university for a week long block release every couple of months and Kier put us in a hotel whilst we were down there. They also adapted very well during the pandemic to offer the same level of organisation and structure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support. They were always available to talk to if I had any issues with anything and didn't make me feel any kinds of unease when asking for assistance.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They want you to do well so they will always be available to offer any help or spend extra time with you if you need more clarity in a certain subject.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives me a lot more opportunities to progress my career which opens more doors.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty in the bigger cities like Manchester.
