Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As part of my graduate scheme, I have spent the last nine months as an L&D Solutions Partner, focusing on reviewing our learning capabilities and improving processes to enhance employee development. I have assessed existing L&D programs, identified areas for improvement, and implemented best practices to optimise training effectiveness. My role has involved streamlining learning processes, upskilling current employees to support career progression, and aligning development initiatives with business objectives.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my graduate scheme, as it allows me to gain diverse experience by rotating into a new role every nine months, expanding my skills and industry exposure. Alongside this, I am also completing an apprenticeship, which provides structured learning and professional development to complement my practical experience. The combination of hands-on work, continuous learning, and exposure to different areas of the business has been invaluable in building my expertise and adaptability.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Throughout this role, I have developed strong problem-solving skills by identifying learning gaps and implementing effective solutions. Engaging with various stakeholders across the business has enhanced my stakeholder management abilities, allowing me to navigate different priorities and expectations. I have also gained experience in handling ambiguity, adapting to evolving business needs, and finding creative approaches to challenges. Additionally, I have built project management skills by overseeing process improvements and learning initiatives from planning to execution. This experience has also given me valuable exposure to the People team, deepening my understanding of talent development, employee engagement, and organizational learning strategies.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well-structured to support my development, providing a clear pathway for learning while allowing me to take on meaningful responsibilities. The fast-paced nature of the rotations encourages rapid skill development, adaptability, and problem-solving in real business scenarios. At the same time, there is a strong support system in place, with access to mentors, training, and resources that enable me to learn and grow effectively. This balance of challenge and guidance has been instrumental in accelerating my professional growth.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides outstanding support, ensuring that we have the time and resources to focus on our development. They actively encourage further learning opportunities, whether through attending conferences, shadowing other roles, or participating in emerging talent events. Initiatives such as fellowship training and insights delivery sessions have been particularly valuable in broadening my perspective and enhancing my leadership skills. This commitment to continuous learning and professional growth creates an environment where I feel empowered to develop and succeed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Our training provider has been good, offering valuable support throughout the apprenticeship. They deliver in-person sessions to guide us through new assessments, providing clarity and practical insights that enhance our learning. These sessions have been particularly beneficial in reinforcing key concepts, allowing us to apply our knowledge effectively in the workplace while keeping us on track with our development goals.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship complements my People Graduate Scheme by providing a strong theoretical foundation that enhances my practical experience. The apprenticeship deepens my understanding of key HR and L&D principles, which I can directly apply in my rotations. It supports my development in areas such as talent management, employee engagement, and organizational learning, helping me make more informed decisions in my role. The combination of hands-on work and structured learning ensures I am continuously building my expertise and growing as a well-rounded people professional.
