Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My daily role involves preparing company accounts for Westcotts managers to use in their client reviews. I also have several different admin tasks that i am responsible for such as our registered office list and client confirmation statement filing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the program with regards to the learning and day to day tasks, whether at Westcott's or at accountancy learning. However i find the portfolio aspect of the apprentice a complete waste of time and it feels very much like doing something for the sake of it to tick a box which is inefficient.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a great deal of new skills regarding the preparation of financial statements and in other areas of accounting such as the accruals concept.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think that the study days with accountancy learning are great because they are both structured and flexible which as an older apprentice is very helpful. With Westcotts i think there are areas which are good but also there are area's for improvement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive good support from the team around me. When i first joined there were a few teething problems which have thankfully been resolved and is now in a very good place.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot of support. They have given me a lot of time to prepare around exam times and have been very flexible which i appreciate.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think there are elements where it has helped me a lot but also at the same time there are some areas that dont have anything to do with my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, Westcotts are very good at organising events and making people feel welcome and part of a community.

Why?
I think that overall it is a great place to work, the people here are very friendly and welcoming which is a major plus, especially whilst an apprentice. I think the way you are treated like an individual and not another cog in the machine is a big plus.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Westcotts?
Write a good CV and Cover Letter. Be confident and approachable.
