Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves providing guidance to clients on their D&O exposures, placing of their risk into the insurance market and then processing of the admin. I work on both new business and renewals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much so. There is a great balance between working on exciting projects and with complex clients, and time to progress studies. A great work-life balance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have learnt many skills, including but not limited to, insurance knowledge, legal knowledge, financial reporting knowledge, time-management skills, certain soft skills (e.g. how to sell policies, how to speak to clients).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well. WTW and The Growth Company have structed the programme effectively. The requirements placed on my are very well understood, with a support network in place to assist my development and help me should I encounter any problems.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much as I need. Management are very fond of the apprenticeship programme, and frequently give time to apprentices to guide them. The employer has a robust framework in place for support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
For the level 6 programme you are left to study on your own. However, the training provider has given me access to tools which provide revision notes and they are happy to answer any questions that I have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) process has provided me with a robust set of knowledge on the insurance market as a whole, so not just in my broking role. I have developed knowledge on all components of the market, including underwriting and the legal landscape.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Our employer has many professional networks available to join to expand my network and have good fun. Additionally my team often has social activities, e.g. games, trips to the pub.
