Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My day to day role is a data analyst, I get to work with a team who all bring different skills to the table and help me become more competent in my role. I work with client accounts to improve their daily work processes behind end devices and improve user experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I love my team and the way we all work and having the ability to work from home. I have been supported by many colleagues and at the company we have an early careers scheme which has improved my networking and confidence to get involved with events.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have been able to develop my analytic skills that I have brought forward from my degree and used them in a real life setting. I have also been encouraged to take on new certifications in relevant fields in my role, but also any interests I have is also encouraged to seek out.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I would say it's structured for billable work however, I have a few needs/queries time to time and it's difficult trying to find the right person to speak to or find an end result to a problem I am worried about. I do however have regular progress reviews with my managers for different subjects
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
I feel I receive a lot of support when its pursuing goals and getting involved with things it is good for that because the role is dependent on learning constantly. However some needs I do struggle with but I do think I'm a bit of an outlier when it has come down to it, so things havent been considered previously/there isnt a structure for these situations yet.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
It has had a bit of a rocky start from the place of study I have been at, however it has picked up and I've become more confident reaching out and setting my own goals in that perspective. There is however lots of support from the training provider including a mentor, teachers, course lead, SEND advisor and academic support so these have been really fulfilling when I've reached out to them
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It is a varied and fast paced course which definitely keeps me on my toes. So there is sometimes some course that dont feel necessarily relevant, however there are many avenues I've wanted to explore in IT and this gives you a well rounded perspective of it all. I have however had modules that have complemented my day to day work such as network & security so this has been fundamental with working on the backend of devices.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes lots, we have a workplace social media which is great for connecting with others online and get involved with things you might not have seen before. We are always encouraged to get involved with STEM events, volunteering for charities, and any awareness days/early career activities to support others. We also do events just for socializing and networking which is in and out of the office. There is multiple opportunities in this sense which is great.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DXC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
In my opinion it is a great place to work to build up your knowledge and get involved with education alongside earning a wage. I love that no matter your level in the business you can be involved with new things and the opportunity to rotate is great for switching up your role. I appreciate that I am able to have 1 day a week to focus on studies.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DXC?
Get involved with anything even if it feels daunting. There is always someone that's in the same boat and it feels really good when you find a connection from that. The more people you know the better, I believe it has benefitted me more networking with others as I am feeling more confident on where to reach out for support. Blocking out time in your calendar is crucial as you can be juggling lots of things. If your ever unsure of anything billability wise - just ask. People prefer you asking as it shows you want to get things right and sticks in your mind better.
