Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Looking after the bar by keeping up with cleaning jobs, glassware, re stocking products . Serving food and drinks to guests - bar and table service. Guest facing front of house.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed my apprenticeship a lot, my tutor was supportive and it was easy to understand and keep on top of work. The environment I work in is fun and Iove working with the team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have improved my knowledge from knowing nothing about hospitality or a bar to being able to run the bar on my own within 1 year .
My overall confidence level has improved.
My people skills and communication has improved.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised as the learning is through aptem and you can see your progress clearly. There are also monthly meetings with your coach to catch up and review progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a decent amount of support from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a great deal of support from my tutor he prepared me very well for my exams. He was understanding of any barriers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think the learning backs up what I’ve learned through doing the job and it has also helped me take that knowledge and apply it to my job. There are extra things you can learn about for example the wine pairings course helped me advise customers .
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are charity events which you can take part in during and out of work, there are plenty of opportunities for social activities for example quizzes and hangouts etc

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells and Butlers?
Stay on top of your work when possible to make it easier, take notes when you can. Volunteer to do extra work/ more opportunities to get your experience in as it counts towards to your apprenticeship. Have fun and get involved in social events
