Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I join meeting with internal and external people to Unilever. Aside from this, I complete my projects that am currently working on as well as completing lab work. This lab based work involves testing of products produced by my company. I also complete University work during my allocated hours.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love this programme. I find the experience great for my development personally and professionally. I have made strong connections and networks within my team as well as outside of the team I work with. I have also been able to make new friends at university as well as friends with other apprentices within the programme at Unilever.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have hugely developed my confidence, public speaking skills as well as my technical knowledge.
I have also developed my presentation making/ presenting skills hugely. I have learnt many things during my University block placements, while also joining online lectured and completing assignment work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme I am completing is very well organised, with lots of support in place to help me with my apprenticeship ad reaching KSBS needed for my apprentice qualification. I also have allocated study time to help with work I am doing towards my degree.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer. This being from line managers, mentors and people in my team. I am also able to get help from a buddy scheme done my my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive some support such as emails, 1:1 chats and drop in session regarding assignats work and /or assignment feedback.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel my work has been improved due to my training provider in terms of having a wider understanding of the topic I work on each day, as well as specific topics learnt in lectured.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Why?
It is an amazing place to work for, with lots of support. The company is extremely welcoming to new people and well supports their apprentices. The learning and career development opportunities are great!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Do research into the company you are applying for. Also think about your purpose, and what you want out of your career and how it links to your purpose in life.
