Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an account manager so I look after the day to day sales of a brand. I negotiate with the customer, plan promotions, media, etc. It is a lot of responsibility but I learn something new everyday. Its a very rewarding role with lots of opportunities for development.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme and I'm glad I chose this path rather than normal Uni. There are so many benefits including making so many friends on the same course which makes up for the lack of a typical uni social life.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills as well as built on original skills. This included data analysis though excel by creating pivot tables. I have also learnt how to communicate with different stakeholders internal and external. I can now also present, negotiate and sell.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised. I have a study day every Friday without fail to complete Uni work. The Uni gave me the years dates at the very beginning of the year so I could inform work of these very early on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager regularly checks up on me in our 1 to 1 catch ups. She has been very aware from the start that my Fridays are for Uni work only. She is constantly asking if I need help with anything and recommending opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Plenty of support. We have one meeting a term to discuss how supportive work are being of the University work. We get lots of feedback on our assignments and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions. The Uni lecturers are very friendly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It provides me with the basic business knowledge to go about my day to day role. I have learnt about different methods to succeed and help others succeed to achieve a common goal.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are regular events for mindfulness like meditation. There is a football team and a run club. Lots of team days are arranged like lunches or activities. There is a Christmas party and a summer party. Lots of the apprentices regular get together to socialise.

Why?
It is a brilliant start to your career if you don't want to purely do University. It provides skills that a normal graduate wouldn't be able to match due to the amazing experiences and opportunities your exposed to at Unilever.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Highlight the characteristics that you have that match Unilever's values. They are very passionate about achieving their GAP plan too. Stick out at assessment centres by showing time management, innovation and include other applicants.
