Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working with stock, delivery work, till operation, customer service and upselling to customers
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I like the people I work with, including my apprenticeship mentor. There is a good balance between coursework and practical work in the role, though I'm not sure that this will be a job I want to stay in long-term.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - at the start point, I had very little experience in all the skills required for the job. I have developed a lot more confidence too.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised with a good balance between each section (coursework, practical work, breaks). Regular check-ins with my mentor is very helpful, and breaks down the coursework into more manageable chunks rather than giving me all the work at once and asking me to do it at my own pace. I enjoy the structured plan.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is very supportive, and is always willing to help me if I don't know the answers to certain questions, making sure to teach me so I'll understand the answers for next time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My mentor has regular check-ins with me, roughly every 4 weeks, for reviews, to add complete work to my portfolio, and to go through anything I didn't understand at the time. I learnt a lot from these sessions on top of my practical experience in my role.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Getting extra training from the apprenticeship has helped me to better understand why we do certain tasks or have certain policies or routines in the workplace. Knowing why something is the way it is also helps me to apply my training to appropriate situations, such as dealing with complaints, or knowing the refund policy a lot better than I would from the regular training for sales assistants.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
N/A

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The training is in-depth, and very well structured, even if there is a lot of it to get through. The tasks are quite simple once you understand them, and they become enjoyable as long as everyone is able to work together to get things done.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savers?
The ability to work in a team and to learn quickly are more important than experience. The skills are easy to learn, as long as you can show you're willing to learn and can get along with almost anyone.
