Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis I complete the syllabus of tasks that are given to me which involves schematic entry, rapid prototyping circuits and completing admin work. We do soldering and complete college work if we ask.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my job as learning these new skills are very rewarding.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learned how to solder and learned many skills in college and at work, these skills also include, protoboard, breadboard, circuit theory, schematic entry, PCB layout.

My program has a set structure (syllabus) so I would say that it is very organised
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a lot of support at the start of my apprenticeship but since new apprentices have joined there is not enough instructors to cope with the amount of apprentices and support is now minimal.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We receive minimal support for college work also although we can ask to do college work at work if we have permission.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Getting a degree will absolutely help me perform better in my role.

There are many extra-curricular activities to partake in at work, social activities, sports, learning, teaching and networking.

I would recommend AWE to a friend as the program is very organised and you will learn a lot of valuable skills.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
You should ensure your prior knowledge of physics, maths and circuit theory are good before joining as it will help you a lot.
