Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within my role of being a support worker I offer my support to multiple clients who reside at our accommodation. I offer support with things such as medical appointments, daily living tasks such as cooking and cleaning, helping clients with their personal letters and so on. I interact with clients daily by having scheduled 1-1 key working sessions.
As a support worker I also keep a record of clients confidential notes on what they complete on a day to day basis and store these accordingly. I am currently doing my level 2 apprenticeship in health and social care and completing this within my work hours.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am currently enjoying my programme in which I am doing my level 2 healthcare. My manager and colleges are very helpful with giving me enough time to complete this within my working hours and I feel as if I am being supported.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since being in my job role I have learnt multiple new skills. I have learnt skills such as better time management, understanding an individuals support needs and understanding their body language. I have also become more educated regarding an individuals mental health.

My programme is excellent in how it is organised. Within my busy job role I know when each tasks on my training has to be completed by.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive excellent support from my employer. My colleagues also offer great advice me if I am struggling within a certain sector.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive brilliant support from my training provider. I keep in to contact with my personal tutor who advises me what tasks need to be completed. My personal tutor also offers her advice and help if I am stuck.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe by completing my level 2 in health and social care I will have a better understanding within my job role. I can develop my knowledge around all different care sectors as I currently only work in mental health. By completing my level 2 I can then in future complete my level 3.

Why?
Choice support offer brilliant flexibility within our support worker roles. Management at choice support are fair and offer brilliant support to their staff. Training at choice support is at a high standard. Choice support offer wide ranges of different e-learning training which refreshes support workers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Choice Support?
Tips and advice I would give to someone who is applying to work for choice support is to start their level 2 health and social care. By doing this it gives you a qualification that could benefit you in the future while earning money at work. Id also advice new employees to look at their training site Lilli in which choice support offer a wide range of different training courses.
