Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an Estimator, my job is to receive, price and send back surfacing bill of quants to clients who are looking for a price, while liaising with them closely during the tender stage.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really do enjoy my programme. It offers lots of opportunities inside and outside the workplace.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Lots of surfacing knowledge etc while on the job. speaking more confidently with clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure is well organised, and any apprenticeship events are always pre planned and amended with our feedback following the events.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lost of support from my employers regarding work, university and my overall development off the job, including going to different departments from time to time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider (University) set up bi monthly progress review meetings to discuss and aid my progress with the workplace.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification gives me lots of insight into the general world of construction, however as expected it does not mention much about surfacing as it is a niche market.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Lots. have attended plenty of events and have daily interactions with many sub contractors from other companies, of whom I have built many great relationships with.

Why?
It is an interesting business where everyday is very different. The early careers programme is also a great incentive as you get to meet many new people, and the opportunity to be sent to uni is great.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tarmac?
Just be yourself as the business is very welcoming and its a good place to work.
