Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day to day I am currently working in different areas around the business, working with and learning from qualified technicians.
I also have the opportunity to work on projects with other apprentices to improve my had fitting skills and showcase my work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

For me the programme I am currently on is the perfect fit for me as it is hands on learning with real time experience of working in industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since I first started I have improved and developed on skills I already had, As an example my hand fitting skills have much improved.
I have also learned many new skills such as using a lathe. Along with gaining an understanding of how a jet engine works.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of this programme is very good. For the first year you are in college full time gaining the skills and knowledge you need to work in a professional aerospace setting.
Then you begin to work 4 days a week and are given one day day release for college.
Then finally in the third year you are working full time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The different support networks within the company are vast and provide care and assistance for those who need it no matter the circumstance.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Whilst in college you are given all the necessary support from the tutors to ensure that you complete the course to the best of your ability.
There are also members of staff whos job it is to ensure the welfare of all college students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training I received in the first year was to a good standard and set me up with all the skills I needed to perform effectively in a professional aerospace setting.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are several different activities to get involved in. For example, career days and team building trips.

Make sure you go in with a genuine interest in aerospace and a love for engineering.
