Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Electrical maintenance and breakdown support for a limestone quarry.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It is very enjoyable as every day is different and exciting

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt all new skills as I started off with no electrical knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Not very organised, the college I go to have a massive communication problem. I also find the course is aimed at domestic side of things so isn't very relevant to my field of work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I get a lot of support from my employer including, time out of work to revise for tests and all my course recourse such as books and tools provided for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
A little. We have 6 weekly reviews but we are never actually asked how we are or how we are getting on, its very much just a tick box exercise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I'm still working towards my qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Nope. We don't even get a Christmas party.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Tarmac to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good wage, great pension and good rewards scheme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tarmac?
Be prepared to wait as nothing moves fast in Tarmac. It took me 2 months to get an interview after applying as nearly had my application terminated due to a miss communication.
