3.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I complete vehicle services and any other work needed to be done on cars. I also clean and organise.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy my programme most of the time but when issues arise that aren't in my control and my workshop controller argues that i am the reason for these issues i get discouraged.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to use a variety of tools, i understand how to check over a car and report any damage or parts needed to be fixed or replaced. I have learnt how to record a cars history at my dealerships standards.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The structure of the virtual training isn't the best, the teachers are given a power point and rush through most of the slides so there's no time for note taking. The physical job we do isnt structured and we wont do most jobs until qualified.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My workshop controllers most of the time don't show support, they show doubt and lack communication or talk down to the apprentices. My bigger bosses are kind and when asked questions do answer them to the best of their ability and are quite understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We have a meeting every 3 months and they do ask questions regarding our progress but with the rate we complete jobs and with the time that passes its easy to forget things.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel the provider gives you path on how and where you should be and where you decide to go is up to you. How you perform is up to you.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We meet up for a meal every now and again which is a nice informal way of seeing eachother

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Ford Motor Company Ltd to a friend?
No
Why?
With any job there will be characters that wont get along and people always act differently. In this enviroment you need certain qualities to not get put down by words from others and you need a massive drive to get through boredom or frustration some days as well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ford Motor Company Ltd?
I would suggest always checking with yourself if this is what you want to do for the rest of your life rather than using it as a piece of paper at the end. This is a dangerous job and what you do with a vehicle can predict someones fate
