Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role mainly consists of orderbook management with external suppliers via email or skype, placing orders on LN and ensuring supplier get paid. I have other tasks that come up that i have to deal with but these are dependent on a suppliers orderbook status/situation. Such as dealing with concessions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed my time on this programme. It is nothing like i have ever done before and i am glad i made the jump to join the company when i received my offer. I feel as though i have had support where i needed it and i look forward to exiting the scheme so i can explore other areas of the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my confidence skills as i am now more open to being in front of a group of people. I would also say i have developed my management skills as i sometimes have multiple things on, i am now able to prioritise certain tasks whilst still ensuring other work is completed in a timely fashion.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel the programme has been structured well and organised well too. I enjoyed how our off the job days/college days ran and how we are allowed to prioritise this where necessary to meet deadlines around our placement work. One thing i feel we could've had sooner wouldve been our mapping grid, as i feel we could of constantly kept updating this alongside our assignments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I feel i receive support from my employer. During both personal and or work situations, i feel i was able to talk to someone which definitely helped as someone who struggled with confidence. I feel as though i would be able to talk to someone about any problems going forward.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I feel as though i received good support from my training provider during the scheme. I was feedback on assignments to make sure they were up to standard and whenever i would email or skype message a question i would always get a prompt response which helped me keep on top of work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think gaining this qualification has helped me develop my skills, knowledge and behaviour and made journey the company less intense. It is quite overwhelming joining such a large company at a young age where i dont have any previous experience, but i feel this route has been ideal for me. This helped me perform better in my role as it was a more comfortable experience which allowed me to throw myself into things.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I am not personally aware of too many off the top of my head that aren't planned amongst teams / colleagues.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel it is a great way into a reputable company. I feel that there are so many different routes you can go down post-apprenticeship scheme which means there is likely to be something out there for everyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be prepared to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. I think this really pushes people out their comfort zones most of the time but this has a really positive effect down the line. Be apart of as much as possible, but only if you can manage this and this doesn't add additional stress.
