Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

shadowing the maintenance engineers that are on shifts whilst they respond to breakdown calls. Also sometimes undertake individual projects or tasks alone
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

the majority of the days i enjoy thoroughly, there is the odd day where i do not enjoy it as much depending on workload or members who I am with
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My fault finding skills have developed in all areas such as mechanical, electrical and software engineering. I have improved in the paperwork side of the job such as logging any tasks i have undertaken as well as using documentation.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

This is one of the areas where up to lately the structure was poor due to no communication between company and the university. this made it harder for myself and the engineering team to know what is required of me. after a recent meeting with management this is going to improve in the future.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

the Engineers on site try to assist us as much as possible in our day to day tasks, however, there is times where it lacks badly and instead it feels like we are just a 'spare pair of hands' at times. i have asked for help in areas before from members and not been able to receive it as the members are not aware of what i have been previously trained in at the training centre
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have periodically spaced reviews with the workplace coach where we can ask for support and show what we are doing, however as of late the amount of these reviews has dropped and the amount of help has reduced significantly. I have gone weeks and sometimes months where after several emails and 'Onefile messages' i still haven't received a response from the provider
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

some of the things that I learned at the training centre have come in helpful as a foundation to grown my knowledge on in my role. However there is several things i learnt that have no impact on my day to day role and have meant I have not been taught the basics in required areas such as electrical motor testing for example.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Our site does not have any of these to be involved in so I personally have taken part in several external charity events and asked for donations and support through the company.

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall the company is good to work for and has plenty of beneifts in doing so. The site however is still in its early years and has not yet been fully set to a standard but with being a part of that growth i have seen that it is on track to become a massive company to be apart of
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Do some research on the company before applying to learn what the company does and the morals. If any opportunities come up for development or extra events to definitely do them or apply.
