Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working with various teams to create visualisations, apps and programming scripts to help improve efficiency and accuracy of decision making within the business. Projects are varied and there is a mix of in-person meetings, online meetings and independent work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme particularly the ability to learn and gain experience in a range of areas and skills. In addition seeing how what you have been working on has an impact on the business is rewarding.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to use Microsoft tools such as Power BI and Power Apps to create dashboards and apps. I have also learnt how to code using both Python and R languages. From a business side, I have learnt about how companies operate and how to work with and present to teams.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme mainly follows a well structured format. However, some topics would've been better to learn at an earlier stage and some later. It would have more of an idea on the end point at the start.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive great support from my employer. I am given the time I need to work on assignments and freedom to get involved in projects which I am interested in and will teach me new skills. There are also services available to help with well being concerns.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive some support from the training provider. However, sometimes feedback on assessments is vague and response times to questions are long. Assessment briefs are also often vague and it is hard to get clarification on what is needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learnt many techniques which I have either implemented in my role or can see potential uses for in the company. Not everything learnt is relevant but programming aspects in particular have been useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a range of clubs you can join from sports teams to crocheting. Individual teams arrange socials which usually occur once a month. There has been sessions to network with other apprentices and showcase work to the wider company and function specific events to highlight work.

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?

Why?
It is a great place to work with friendly colleagues who are always willing to help. The atmosphere encourages a positive working environment with a good balance of hard of work and fun. There is also a wide range of different projects to get involved in and variety of people to work with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Research the company values and products. A lot of work is focussed on making products better for the environment so it will be useful if this is something you are interested in.
