Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Working with internal and external stakeholders, managing time and logistics of deliveries, using tool sets and systems to produce reports and tracking
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the rotation of placement and the support offered to us, I enjoy the learning and Uni side much less, lectures are not engaging and support offered to us is minimal and not helpful

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have increased in competancy of all apprenticeship standards, i have evidence of good soft skills and additional confidence, i have gained connections and supportive networks

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
There are clear miscommunications in the 'National programme'. In efforts to standardise the delivery and expectations of apprentices within BAE, we are now all part of the same programme but have different things communicated to us and there is clear rivalry and lack of understanding between the business sites.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
From BAE itself, we have clear lines of communication and approachable support networks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
The support form the uni is limited and often unhelpful, lecturers share they are unprepared and unaware of the content. The also share that they mark depending on their mood and often comment on our behaviour at uni, blaming the apprentices for not being engaged when it is the lack of quality content which causes that.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification, incorporating the PMQ directly reflects and backs up my work. I have already used skills from uni in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are stretch projects however they are often a working group rather than a social.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The opportunities are there, you just have to work hard and ensure you are seen
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Ask intelligent questions and be mindful of the environment. The company is huge but everyone knows everyone which can make networking really easy but can also ensure any negative opinions of you are spread.
