Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
It differs, but going and working on ship to learning how to deal with documents as well as balancing my college work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
As part of my apprenticeship is switching my role throughout the business I am of course finding things that I don't like doing. However as my work changes, I'm never stuck in a bad position, so I'd say I like it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Definitely, transferring from school to work is a big change. Not only have I learnt about work life in general, living alone and organising myself is proving educational in itself.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I find organisation difficult, and the vastness of the business makes it difficult to get full attention from people to find things to do. Yet it's still structured to a decent enough level.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Support is very good here, however sometimes communicating with people when you don't know who's who is a little difficult.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Good support but communication is difficult to establish. Emails have to be sent to organise calls with tutors which are often too late to discuss the issue.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It helps me understand the mindset expected within my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not really, there are things around the business that you can get involved in but they are not promoted by the business and can only really be found on your own accord.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good all round training in an impressive environment surrounded by knowledgeable people
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Get friendly with people that you work with and express your interest. Otherwise you will struggle to be involved by your mentors. Make friends with other apprentices and help each other out. It's what we're doing at it's brilliant.
