Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a degree apprentice at BAE systems leaning is high importance. On an average day my role is to work on site within an engineering team and provide valuable mathematical data to help support boat production. Working closing with MOD and suppliers will full responsability
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have never experienced a boring day here, the length of opportunity is endless. with 6 months placements i get to see the business as a whole and learn everything from naval architecture to hands on skills

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a vast skill set that within 2 years has made me a competent engineer and provide valuable and us full information for bae. Also massive opportunities with public speaking.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The early careers function can seem a bit difficult to grasp but overall i am happy with my training provider and what early careers and supporting me with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From home functions "actual team" the support is immense and will always be given support in any situation you are in.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

12 weekly check ups (30 min 1-1s) with weekly check ins. support for doing our end point assessment right from the start of my apprenticeship. and a large source of info to pass my EPA
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the skills i learn within uni directly correlate with the maths i do at works and vice versa. The skills in work is also transferable
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Social events are always going on within teams, pub night or an away day for team building activities. all the apprentices have nights out a swell and has a large community

Fantastic opportunities great learning great pay, i have managed to buy a house at 20 thanks to bae. The skills you learn here over the apprenticeships are fantastic and transferable to any company. Getting experience while at uni is also a pro
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
The security clearance may take a while and you may get impatient but it is worth it in the end! also when you apply get in touch with early careers and ask for a 'buddy' (current apprentice) to help with all sorts of info
