Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I manage projects within the Ops function. This involves tracking and presenting metrics as well as contacting stakeholders to better current processes. It also involves looking into the SQEPness of the workforce and ensuring everyone is appropriately trained.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed some placements more than others. I thoroughly enjoy my current placement although some others have been more boring and less engaging.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I have learned a lot of skills relating to understanding and creating metrics. I have also learned how to better communicate with stakeholders which has also helped develop my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Each stage of my apprenticeship has been clearly laid out I have plenty of time to complete each element. However there are some aspects that I feel arent communicated to us or explained fully until nearer the time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
If I have any issues I feel as though I can go to a variety of people. I feel like my needs are always accounted for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I can reach out for help with anything if needed, however some modules/tutors have been better and more engaging than others.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I have been able to apply some of my learning into the workplace but as an organisation, the work is generally too specific to one area of PM to apply everything.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are many activities that involve reaching out to younger kids in school to encourage them to join the business but this is something that is done within working time. There are often networking events on. There are little to no sports teams or social activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel as though the business is very caring towards their employees and there is a lot of support there to help you if you need it. It also provides a good qualification that can be taken outside of the business and with good pay.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Dive into as many projects as you can, try and integrate yourself into the team as much as possible.
